What better therapy than disconnecting on a mountain bike (MTB) trail. It's the terrain where the bike has a greater variety of modes: from Cross Country to downhill and free ride, passing through enduro, trail and fat bike. This wide range of all-terrain bicycles allows us to let the adrenaline rip and enjoy pedalling on the mountain.
Dodging branches, roots and trunks, crossing rivers or jumping that unexpected rock...here's where we feel all the benefits of MTB compared to the other modes. These include the 100% activation of all our senses, as well as being in an environment with fresh, clean air. But the mountain requires resistant components that can support the harshness of a demanding terrain. As you already know, choose a fork and shock that has a travel in accordance with your modality, together with some derailleurs, brakes that can resist the great wear and tear of a mountain bike and that afford safety and comfort.
All this without forgetting your protection and gear. Due to the demands of this mountainous terrain you need a good helmet, gloves and protections, especially if your modality is downhill or fat bike. Also, don't forget to constantly hydrate and always carry a full water bottle Or a hydration back pack.
How about a GoPro for recording your best descent? Add a video camera to your gear and show that jump that nobody believes and only you know you landed. To completely round off your preparation for the mountain, get a GPS that will let you know your position via satellite, as well as analysing your altitude, kilometres, gradient and all the data of your trips and trails. Finally, don't forget to always have spare parts with you, such as chambers, air pump and basic tools such as a set of Allen keys or a chain cutter. A breakdown in the middle of the mountain, without spares, can ruin a fantastic MTB day.
